The winner will receive £1,000 and be commissioned by Interact Stroke Support to write four further stories
The biennial Ruth Rendell Short Story Competition, hosted by the charity InterAct Stroke Support, invites writers to submit stories up to 1,000 words, in any genre, that are suitable to be read aloud in a hospital setting. This year the competition judge is novelist Margaret Drabble.
Writers may enter as many stories as they like. There is an entry fee of £15 per story.
The closing date is 22 December.
