Enter 1,000-word short fiction for the annual competition from Creative Writing Matters
The 1,000-word limit was chosen because, amongst other reasons, it's an acceptable word count for most commercially published short fiction. For this competition, writers are allowed fifty words over or under a thousand.
The writer of the winning story in the 2017 Wow! One thousand word story competition will get £200, and there are second and third prizes of £100 and £50. Winning entries may be published online and/or in a forthcoming anthology. The winners of last year's competition were included in The 2016 Exeter Story Prize Collection.
There is a £5 entry fee per story.
Enter 1,000-word, original, unpublished fiction by the closing date of 30 June.
