The CWA's prestigious annual prize for unpublished crime writers is inviting entries
The Debut Dagger is for unpublished, unagented crime writers looking for agent representation and a publishing contract. The winner receives £500.
Writers entering the competition must be unagented, and must never have had a publishing contract for a novel of any kind. They must not have self-published their entry, or any piece of writing of more than 20,000 words, within five years of the closing date.
To enter, submit the first 3,000 words of the crime novel manuscript and a synopsis up to 1,500 words.
The entry fee is £42.
The closing date is 29 February 2024.
