The winners in each of the poetry, short fiction and life writing categories will win £1,000

The Queen Mary Wasafiri New Writing Prize supports writers who have not published book-length works of fiction, life writing or poetry.

The winners in each category receive £1,000 and their work will be published in the print edition of Wasafiri. Shortlisted writers' work will be published online. All winning and shortlisted writers receive a Chapter and Verse or Free Reads mentoring scheme and a conversation with The Good Agency's Nikesh Shukla to discuss their career progression.

This year's judges are Tishani Doshi, Hirsh Sawhney, Christie Watson and Andrew Cowan.

To enter, send original, unpublished short fiction or life writing up to 3,000 words, or up to three poems. All prose entries must be self-contained works.

The entry fee is £10 for one and £16 for two.
