The annual creative writing competition is inviting entries in four categories.
The Wells Festival of Literature competition categories are:
• Open Poetry: Poems on any subject, no more than 35 lines. Prizes: 1st £1,000, 2nd £500, 3rd £250, Local £100. Entry fee, £6
• Short Story: Any subject, 1,000 to 2,000 words. Prizes: 1st £750, 2nd £300, 3rd £200, Local £100. Entry fee, £6
• A Book for Children: Stories on any subject aimed at readers aged 7+, allowing entrants
to write either middle grade or teenage novels. Send the first three chapters or first thirty pages, whichever is the shortest, plus the synopsis. Prizes: 1st £750, 2nd £300, 3rd £200, Local £100. Entry fee, £6
• Young Poets: Poems on any subject, no more than 35 lines. Prizes: £150, £75, £50 plus a year’s membership of The Poetry Society. Entry fee, £3
