The prestigious international contest is inviting entries in five categories
For this year's awards, the prestigious international competition organised by Yeovil Community Arts Association is inviting entries in the following categories:
• Novel: The prizes are £1,250, £300 and £125. The judge is A.J. West. Enter up to 10,000 words, including a 500-word synopsis, of an original, unpublished novel manuscript. The entry fee is £14.50.
• Short story: The prizes are £600, £250 and £125. The judge is Julie Goodall. Enter original, unpublished short stories up to 2,000 words. The entry fee is £8.
• Poetry: The prizes are £600, £250 and £125. The judge is Michael Glover. Enter original, unpublished poems up to 40 lines. The entry fee is £5 per poem.
• Children/Young Adult Novel: The prizes are £600, £250 and £125. The judge is Kiran Millwood-Hargrave. Enter 3,000 words plus a 500-word synopsis of an original, unpublished novel for children or young adults. The entry fee is £12.50.
• Writing Without Restriction: The prizes are £250, £125 and £75. The judge is Jennie Godfrey. Enter original, unpublished work in the category for inventive, different or fun writing. The entry fee is £6.
There is also a £100 Western Gazette Best Local Writer award for the best shortlisted entry by a writer living in the Western Gazette distribution area.
The closing date is 31 May.
