Creative writing competition: The Watson, Little x Indie Novella Prize 2023

Winners of the contest for unpublished writers from underrepresented backgrounds will receive critiques and advice

The competition from Watson, Little literary agency and Indie Novella advisory service is for entries of unpublished fiction of any length by writers who have not previously published a novel. Entries are invited on three themes: Community, Climate and Crime Fiction.

Winning entries will receive a one-page report and a one-hour session from an agent at Watson, Little. Winners and commended entries will receive a short written report from Indie Novella, and extracts from their novels will be included in a Prize anthology.

To enter, send the first 5,000 words and a 300-word synopsis. Longlisted entrants will be invited to submit a full manuscript.

Entry is free.

The competition opens on 1 January and closes on 14 February.
