The contest from Lewes FC football club is for the first 250 words of a novel

100% fan owned since 2010, Lewes FC has a sterling reputation for using football for social good. Now in its third year, The Rooker Prize, which is intended to make novel writing accessible, is sponsored by actors Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt and Hachette publishers.

The winner receives a trophy, £250 for the charity of their choice, and an hour-long feedback/coaching session with a Hachette editor.

To enter, send the first 250 words of the novel, plus the title and the genre. The judges are Lewes FC director Karen Dobres, authors Georgia Byng and Mark Crick and football writer Suzy Wrack.

The single entry condition is that entrants are an owner of Lewes FC - sign up for a single share on the website.

The closing date is 19 April.
