The new writing festival's mission to celebrate undiscovered authors includes a writing competition with agent representation as the prize
The Primadonna Prize invites entries of 500 words on the theme 'Primadonna' by writers who have not previously published a book. Entries may be fiction or non-fiction. The winner will be offered representation by leading agent Catherine Summerhayes at Curtis Brown, and £500. The runner up (fiction) will receive £100 and a mentoring session with Kit de Waal, and the runner up (non-fiction) will receive £100 and a mentoring session with Catherine Mayer. All shortlisted writers will receive two complimentary tickets to the festival and a Primadonna t-shirt.
Entrants shortlisted from the first round will be invited to submit a longer piece of wriitng (3,000-5,000 words) by December.
Entry costs £8 and is redeemable against the full cost of a festival ticket.
The closing date is 27 June.
The Primadonna Festival will take place between 30 August and 1 September at Laffitts Hall in Suffolk, giving prominence to work by women and featuring a diverse line up of new and established writers.
