Creative writing competition: The Morley Prize for Unpublished Writers of Colour

The competition is for novel manuscripts by unpublished, unrepresented writers

The competition, from Morley College in London, is for unpublished writers of colour and is intended to improve access and diversity in publishing. The winner will receive £500, a free manuscript review and a one-hour, in-person meeting with a literary agent from RML. Shortlisted writers will receive an online advice session and the opportunity to exhibit an extract of their work online and as part of the Cardew Gallery exhibition.

To be eligible to enter, writers must not previously have published a novel or novella, including self publishing and e-publishing.

To enter, send the first 30-50 pages of a novel manuscript aimed at adult readers, plus an outline no longer than three pages.

Entry is free. Only one entry per writer is permitted.

The closing date is 22 August.
