The Awards are aimed at writers working towards their first full collection of poetry or short stories, or a novel

Writers entering the competition, from the Belfast Book Festival, may be published or unpublished, but must not yet have published a full collection of poetry or short stories, or a novel.

The Awards are given for poetry (submit 3-5 poems) and short stories (submit stories up to 2,500 words).

The winner in each category will receive £500 and a Time to Write package that includes a three-night stay at the Bullitt Hotel in Belfast and four days of dedicated writing space in The Crescent. Two runners up for each category will receive £250.

The submission fee is £6.

The closing date is 30 April.
