Win a £500 first prize in the competition for short historical fiction

The competition is for original, unpublished historical short stories no longer than 3,500 words. All stories must be set at least 35 years in the past.

As well as the £500 first prize, the winning story will be published in Whispering Gallery and on www.historiamag.com, and the author will have a mentoring session with an author and agent. Two runners up will be offered mentoring. All six shortlisted entries will be published in an anthology.

The entry fee is £5 per story.

The closing date is 1 July.
