Write a love letter to the UK's capital city to win one of four £500 prizes

Now in its third year, the competition from The London Society invites entries up to 500 words on this year's theme, which is 'Love Letters to London of the Future'. Londoners and non-Londoners alike are welcome to send pieces of writing celebrating London and reflecting on why they love the city.

In the open and poetry categories, there are prizes of £500, £250 and £100. In the under 12 and 12-18 age-group categories, there are winners' prizes of £500 and four runner-up prizes of £150. The school of the two category winners will receive £250-worth of books.

Love letters to London may be in any style, including poetry, fiction, reportage etc.

Entry is free.

The closing date is 1 December.
