Creative writing competition: Globe Soup 2024 Primal Fears Horror Short Story Challenge

Entrants are randomly assigned horror sub-genres genres to write their stories in the £1,000 prize

The Primal Fears Horror Short Story Challenge is for original, unpublished short stories up to 5,000 words relating to a primal fear and written in a randomly allocated horror sub-genre.

Writers entering the competition will be sent a list of 20 primal fears and be randomly assigned a horror sub-genre. The sub-genres are: body horror, folk horror, eco horror, psychological horror and fantasy horror.

The winner will receive £1,000.

The entry fee is £2.50 early bird, £5 general and £9 late entry.

The closing date is 19 February.
