Creative writing competition: Fish Short Story Prize 2023

The annual competition has a first prize of €3,000

The Fish Short Story Prize is a major international contest for fiction up to 5,000 words.

The winner will receive €3,000 and a five-day short story workshop at the West Cork Literary Festival. The second prize and third prizes are €300. Seven honourable mentions will each get €200. All top ten stories will be published in The Fish Anthology 2024 and the writers will be invited to read at the West Cork Literary Festival. This year's judge is Sarah Hall.

Enter original, unpublished short fiction in any style or form, up to 5,000 words.

The entry fee is €20 for the first story and €12 for any subsequent.

The closing date is 30 November.
