The £1,000 prize is for debut novels by authors over the age of 60

The Paul Torday Memorial Prize was established in memory of author Paul Torday, whose first novel Salmon Fishing in the Yemen was published when he was 60.

The winner willl receive £1,000 and a set of Paul Torday's complete works.

To be eligible, books must be the author's first published full-length fiction work, published in the UK and Republic of Ireland between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021. The author must be aged 60 or over on the first print publication of the novel. Books must not have been self-published or only available in e-format.

Entry is free.

The closing date is 30 November 2021.
