Pet charity Blue Cross has launched a competition to find a poet or spoken word artist to celebrate pets
The selected poet will hold the post of Pet Poet Laureate for a year, during which time they will produce a series of poems celebrating pets and the positive effects they have on people's lives. The poems will be performed, recorded and posted on the Blue Cross website, and the poet will be renumerated.
To enter, send an audition video reading out original work (this can be filmed on a mobile phone), written samples of previous work, a 250-word statement and supporting information including social media handles and links. One of the poems submitted at this stage should be a pet poem.
Entry is free. One entry per person is permitted.
The closing date is 18 July.
