Competitions closing soon

At a loose end over the bank holiday weekend? There's still time to flex your writing muscles and get in entries for these competitions

• Paragram Poetry Prize 2013 Poems on the theme of 'a certain slant of light.' Closes 31 August.
• The Firefly Children's Book Prize Book-length fiction for young readers, set in Wales. Closes 31 August.
• Aesthetica Creative Writing Competition Short fiction and poetry. Closes 31 August.
• Torbay Open Poetry Competition Poems up to 50 lines. Closes 31 August.
And don't forget The Manchester Writing Competition, with £10,000 each to the winners in the poetry and short story category, which we told you about earlier this week. It closes on 30 August.
