Readers are invited to select their favourite from the three shortlisted stories
The Costa Short Story Award has a first prize of £3,500, and second and third prizes of £1,000 and £500. It is free to enter. More than 1,000 entries were received for this year's competition.
The shortlisted stories are:
• The Persistence of Memory
• The Boatman
• Dirty Little Fishes
You can download the shortlisted stories to read or listen to here before you vote for the one you like best.
The identities of the authors of the three shortlisted stories will be revealed after public voting closes on 13 January. The winner will be announced at the Costa Book Awards ceremony on 31 January.
