Irvine Welsh urges Scottish writers to send in their true-life stories of rebellion
2018 marks the 10th year of Scottish Book Trust's annual campaign to get people writing.
'In an uncertain and obtuse age, the only currency you can have is education and knowledge,' said Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh, who supported the campaign with a story in its launch year. 'It is incumbent on everyone to read and educate themselves. This is how we realise ourselves. It's why we read and it's why we write - to share our stories and culture with others.'
All the entries that meet the submission criteria will appear online, and the best ones will be included in a Scottish Book Trust ebook anthology published for Book Week Scotland in November.
All submissions must be true stories on the theme of Rebel. Enter writing up to 1,000 words in any form – song, story, poem, letter, play – in Gaelic, Scots or English.
Writers must be resident in Scotland. The closing date to submit is 6 June.
