West Yorkshire Playhouse invites proposals for 15-minute radio dramas on the theme of migration

The first Airplays event at the WYP will be a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the arrival of the Empire Windrush in 1948. Four selected plays will be produced by West Yorkshire Playhouse, performed live at Leeds College of Music and recorded for broadcast by BBC Radio Leeds. The writer of each of the four commissioned plays will receive £1,000.

Airplays is open to writers resident in the UK. Selected writers must be available to write a full draft of their play by 22 June.

Proposals must be for original fiction, not an account of real events, either historical or current.

To submit, send a a story synopsis up to 600 words outlining the play, a maximum of two pages of A4 of previous fictional writing, and a CV outling relevant writing experience.

The closing date to submit is 10 May.
