The two prizes celebrate writing from East Anglia and Suffolk

Ipswich Institute has announced its literary prizes for 2022/2023.

The New Angle Prize for Literature, which was set up in 2009, is a biennial award given for a book of literary merit that is set in or influenced by the region of East Anglia.

Books entered for the New Angle Prize 2023 must have been published between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2022, and may be fiction, non-fiction or poetry. Books may be submitted by authors, agents or publishers. The winner will receive £2,000 and there is a £500 prize for the runner up.

The Creative Suffolk Award from the New Angle Prize and University of Suffolk is for outstanding writing that contributes to Suffolk's creative output. The winner will receive £2,000. Entries may be full-length works of fiction and non-fiction, single-author collections of short stories or essays, and poetry collections, by authors based in Suffolk. Self-published works are eligible. Books must have been published between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2022.

The closing date for both prizes is 5 January 2023.
