Lucy Caldwell has won the 2021 BBC National Short Story Award with Cambridge University

Lucy’s winning story, All the People Were Mean and Bad, comes from her collection Intimacies. Lucy’s prize is £15,000.

The winner was announced last night on BBC Front Row. Also announced was the winner of the BBC Young Writers Award with Cambridge University - Tabitha Rubens, for Super-Powder.
