The bursary is open to people living or working outside the Greater London area who would like to gain publishing industry experience. The role of paid intern will be for a fixed period of twelve weeks from 1 October, and will be based in Pan Macmillan's publicity department.
To apply, follow the link on Ann's website. The closing date is 24 August.
Ann is known for works set outside London, and hopes in a small way to counteract the London-centricty of the publishing industry. 'Everyone seems to come from London,' she says. 'Why? Because it's impossible to get a job without work experience. And how do you get work experience if you live outside the capital unless you have very wealthy parents prepared to support you.'
