There are two categories: published and unpublished. The winner of the published category will win £10,000, and the winner in the unpublished category will be offered a creative writing residency at a university and writing guidance from Wilbur Smith's literary agency, Tibor Jones.
The Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize is for the best published adventure novel of the last year and the best unpublished adventure novel submitted for consideration.
• To enter in the published category, books should have been published by a recognised trade publisher between 1 January 2015 and 1 January 2016.
• Entries in the unpublished category should be at last 50,000 words long. Writers entering in this category must not be represented by a literary agent.
Submissions for the major new adventure writing prize, which will be awarded annually, open on 2 November and close on 25 January 2016.
