Article Writing and Freelance Journalism
A freelance journalist, David has written articles for around 30 different publications.
Since studying with The London School of Journalism, David has created and successfully maintained a network of contacts (with editors and other media personnel) and has had hundreds of articles published about people and their stories that would have otherwise been unreported.
He's conducted interviews with people from a variety of backgrounds including: business men and women; people from the world of sport, from world class level to amateur; TV and film directors and producers; members of the Armed Forces; and even award-winning stand-up comedians.
For several years a writer about sport, particularly boxing - having reported on Sky Sports Live fight nights - David has also penned copy about entertainment, news, and charity events, with a recent article being about a lady who was trekking The Great Wall of China to raise money and awareness for the CHD (Congenital Heart Defect syndrome) charity after losing her twin sister to the disease.
A student on the Scriptwriting course with Writers' News in 2007, David is well aware of the course contents, having completed each assignment himself - he enjoyed the module so much, he even completed a course extension!
Since then, he has created a portfolio of original scripts and ideas for TV and film. With a passion for writing comedy, drama and comedy drama, David has received feedback on his work from directors, heads of development, and established scriptreaders and scriptwriters, who have written for many TV shows, including Eastenders. Although yet to secure a commission, David has submitted work to various UK production companies and broadcasters and believes he isn't far away from achieving this goal - with a bit of luck, of course!
David became a tutor with Writing Magazine in September 2015 due to his passion for giving back and helping others achieve their literary ambitions. He is currently a full-time creative writer for a leading business consultancy firm in Nottinghamshire.
The course so far has been amazing to do. I am on module 4 now and I can safely say that the first 3 modules are easy to understand as everything is explained clearly and in a fun way. The feedback I get from each assignment and any queries I put to David are prompt and I find he understands what level of progress I am at as I continue on the course. He can quite easily spot the areas I need to improve and he gives great examples to help me understand where I need to learn and strengthen my abilities.George Sandhu, Essex - 16/03/2016
