WIN a 6 day writers retreat at Arvon’s new Clockhouse!
The prize is worth £600 and includes fully inclusive accommodation in your own apartment equipped with a bedroom, kitchen and lounge and is set amongst the beautiful countryside of Shropshire. To enter, Writing Magazine readers must submit 500 words on the theme ‘retreat’. The winner's retreat will be 6-12 September 2016.
The winner will receive a 6 night stay at Arvon’s new Writers Retreat in Shropshire.
Arvon, renowned for its creative writing course, is offering to the winner a free week of writing, at its new Writers Retreat in Shropshire.
The Writers Retreat at The Clockhouse is in the grounds of The Hurst, Arvon’s Shropshire writing centre and the former home of playwright John Osborne. Everything in The Clockhouse has been planned to help you focus on your writing, away from day-to-day distractions. Writers have their own apartment, with bedroom, study-lounge and bathroom, and all food provided. And if you need a break, for inspiration step outside into the grounds - 29 acres of woodland, a spring-fed lake and beautiful views of the Shropshire Hills.
The winning retreat, worth £600, is from Monday 6 to Saturday 12 September.

Submit 500 words on the theme ‘retreat’ in a single doc, docx, txt, rtf or pdf file, using the links below.
Please note that, although free, competition entries are processed just like any other order, meaning that you will be taken to the shopping basket. You will not be charged.
Competition Closing Date
This competition is open for entries until 23:59 04 July 2016. Entries submitted after this date cannot be accepted.
Terms & Conditions
Entry is open to any writer and entries must be the original and unpublished work of the entrant which is not currently submitted for publication nor for any other competition or award. Each entrant may only submit one entry. Entrants retain copyright in their manuscripts.
2. Entry Fees
Free to enter
Manuscripts can be uploaded in pdf, doc, docx and txt formats.
Short story manuscripts - please layout your entry in double spacing with a front page stating your name, address, phone number and email address. Please also state story title and word count.
Poetry manuscripts - please layout your poems in single spacing with double spacing between stanzas, on single pages of your file, with a front page giving your name, address, daytime telephone number and email address.
4. Competition Judging
Competition judges will be appointed by Writing Magazine and their decision will be final, with no correspondence being entered into.
Winners will be notified within two months of closing date after which date unplaced entries may be submitted elsewhere. Winning entries may not be submitted elsewhere for twelve months after that date without permission of Writing Magazine who retain the right to publish winning entries in any form during those twelve months.
