Writing for the web is all about establishing your own internet presence. Yes, of course you should have your own website in order that contacts and clients can have a point of reference and to give a shop window for the services you have to offer. But it goes much further than that: you need to put yourself around.

Social networking is perhaps the most obvious way of doing this. You should not be slow, or modest, in making your professional personal known – and in this context LinkedIn can often be the most useful network for you in that you can join groups that can generate useful business contacts.

And don’t forget that the internet is an interactive media, and is one on which you should be responding to other contacts who come within your orbit and developing your own network.
