On two separate days, two young women, Elise Cuiper and Gisele de Groet are reported missing, both by a strange, foul smelling woman, at two separate police stations who claims to be their mother. Widower Hoofinspecteur Caes Heda investigates.

His daughter Truus, fed up at University takes a job at disgraced former policeman Thijs Ormans Private Detective agency. Her first case is to search for Ormans estranged daughter Sterre Vossen, who has also seemingly disappeared.

Now with three missing young women on his hands, Caes and his team pull out all the stops, but are further hampered when two dead bodies turn up.

To complicate life, Truus falls in love with a colleague of Caes, Maaike Meijer, sister of fellow police officer, Freddie Meijer.

Frantic action takes place as they search for the kidnapped women and the murderer across the snow covered city.
