The Wolf of Dalriada, by Elizabeth Gates

d053a248-240c-4c53-bdc8-2b72a97f6b14

Set in Jacobite Scotland and Revolutionary Paris, it is the first of the series about Malcolm Craig Lowrie – the legendary 'Wolf'. Craig Lowrie is a brigand driven by duty and love and beset by the enormous social change which, sparked by the French Revolution, pervades even remote Argyll.  As his liege lord, the Duke of Argyll, engages in political manoeuvring, (and begins the Clearances) and the woman he loves, Adelaide de Fontenoy, tries to escape the clutches of a powerful English lawyer, Sir William Robinson, Craig Lowrie is set to ride a storm of evil which, like Argyll's famed Corryvreckan whirlpool, threatens them all.  His clan believe only Craig Lowrie can save them from the storm but, the question is, 'Can he?' Or are the forces besetting the whole of Europe too great - even for him?
