This is Tottenham, 1989. There is no noticeable change for poor people after the devastation of the ’85 riots. They are still unheard and live no better than cattle as they are herded into substandard buildings.

Christine Bullet, beautiful and naive, lives on the notorious Broadwater Farm Estate; She goes to work as a barmaid at Marilyns Nightclub, where she’s convinced she will meet a rich man.

Sid Cavan the owner has his eye on all the young barmaids. Christine falls for handsome J.C Masterson, who is married to Cavan's daughter Amanda. When one of the barmaids, who is seeing Sid, is run over, Christine is convinced it will be her next.

Max the manager is keeping a watchful eye on the Cavans and can see that they wield their power without thinking about the consequences. Max is falling for the exotic Joanna who is also keeping secrets. Christine becomes friends with all the bar staff, through tears, some pain but most of all laughter they plan their futures to get out of Tottenham.

Can the surreal world of this nightclub change people’s lives forever? Who will survive their time at Marilyns?
