The Telegraph Style Guide

0c658586-040f-45ce-adaf-669b2731d8c5

If you write ‘managing director’ should you start each word with lower case or use capitals as in ‘Managing Director’? You should use lower case, rules The Telegraph Style Guide. And what about ‘home owner’ – or should it be ‘home-owner’ (hyphenated) or ‘homeowner’ (single word)? You should use two separate words, says the Style Guide. Not everyone may agree with this, but if you follow these rulings you will at least have a consistent style.

And consistency is almost as important as accuracy, so what better authority to follow than the Telegraph? Its style guide gives rulings for numbers, titles, names, and much more. And for accuracy, It guides you through awkward spellings of names (such as Condoleezza Rice, which can be a real pitfall), trade names), places, titles and so forth.
