McCallum's Writing Glossary

One of the problems that writers face is being able to talk the lingo. Dealing with publishers, agents or literary consultants can be intimidating enough if you are new to the business, but it is worse if you do not understand the jargon they use. Self-publishers have a particular problem here because they deal with a wide range of specialists from printers to graphic designers.

Chriss McCallum’s new book provides a solution. It is a glossary, big enough to be called a dictionary, of the language of professional book publishing and includes publishing terms and jargon, printing terms, literary and fiction forms, poetic forms and basic internet and digital terms.

If, for example, you are handling proofs do you know the difference between the abbreviations AA and QA? The first is for author’s alteration, the second for query author which is a note asking the author to check something.
