Writing the Paranormal Novel

1f1f17bf-e9e3-4298-9f1b-60d204c7d055

Vampires, ghosts and werewolves. These are supernatural characters most often found in paranormal novels. But paranormal goes much further than that, and you will find examples from Tolkien to Harry Potter. Wizards are paranormal, people with second sight are paranormal, and inanimate objects can be as well: how about the doll that comes alive at midnight and starts laying evil curses that have a nasty habit of coming true, or even the television set that starts showing films of events that are going to occur in the next few days?

Once you start playing with the paranormal, you will be surprised at the weird, spooky, and even terrifying, things you can come up with. But integrating the paranormal into your novel calls for real writing skills to retain believability and to establish just the right relationship between the paranormal and the other characters and plot elements in your story. Every aspect of this subject is fully explored in Steven Harper’s book.Vampires, ghosts and werewolves are supernatural characters most often found in paranormal novels.
