The Irish Writers' Festival in California welcomes international entries to its short story and poetry competitions

The Los Gatos – Listowel Writers' Week 2016 will take place from 6 to 9 October. It will be in the spirit of the annual Listowel Writers' Week and will feature arts and literary culture from Ireland as well as writers from the Bay area and the rest of the USA.

The are three Los Gatos – Listowel Festival creative writing contests:

• The 2016 Short Story Contest is for original, unpublished stories up to 5,000 words. The entry fee is $15. There is a $1,000 prize.

• The 2106 Adult Poetry Contest is for original, unpublished poems. The entry fee is $10. There is a $600 prize.

• The 2016 Youth Poetry Contest is for original, unpublished poems. The entry fee is $10. There is a $400 prize.

Writers may send one entry per category.

The closing date is 9 September.
