The £10,000 award will support an unpublished writer from South Asia to spend six months at UEA

To be eligible, applicants must be writers of fictional or non-fictional prose who have not yet published a book. Applicants must be from South Asia (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Burma/Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan) but do not need to be domiciled there. Preference will be given to mature students and candidates who have completed their education and embarked on a career path.

The £10,000 Fellowship encompasses accommodation and travel costs. Fellows take up their appointment on 1 October.

To apply for the 2017/18 Charles Pick South Asia Fellowship, send a completed application form, a reference from an editor, agent or accredited teacher of creative writing, and a creative writing sample (2,500 words) from the work applicants intend to pursue if offered the Fellowship. The closing date is 28 February.
