Penguin Random House is looking for new writing talent from communities under-represented in UK bookshops

WriteNow was created in 2016 to find talented unpublished writers under-represented in books across all genres (fiction, non-fiction, children's). Applications are welcomed from writers from socio-economically margalised backgrounds, LGBTQ and BAME writers, and writers with a disability.

For WriteNow 2017, Penguin Random House is partnering with Spread the Word, LiteratureWorks and New Writing North. The programme offers 150 aspiring writers access to free Insight Days in London, Bristol and Newcastle where they will get feedback and have access to agents and published authors. 10 of the most promising writers will receive 12 months of editorial support from Random House editors.

Applications are open from today. 50 writers will be invited to each Insight Day. Writers interested in applying for WriteNow 2017 should be unpublished within the last ten years, unagented and actively working on a manuscript. To apply, send 1,000 words of the manuscript and 250 words on how you meet the criteria.

The closing date is 16 July.
