Hachette and THRIVE are inviting applications from unpublished fiction writers from BAME backgrounds

10 writers will be selected for the programme, which is designed to help them develop their manuscripts and will include online workshops led by author Rowan Hisayo Buchanan and literary agent Niki Chang, as well as feedback and mentoring. The programme has been launced by THRIVE (Hachette UK's BAME network) and is supported by David Higham Associates, The Future Bookshelp and Spread the Word, and sponsored by Hachette's adult trade divisions.

The Grow Your Story writer development programme will be offered free of charge to the selected writers. Each writer may submit one piece of work for consideration. To be eligible to submit, writers must be from a BAME background, unpublished, unagented, and resident in the UK or Ireland.

Submissions open on 4 September and close on 14 September.
