Winchester Writers' Festival launches the Lindsay Literary Scholarship

Children's writers from under-represented backgrounds are invited to apply for the scholarship, which covers the cost of attending the festival

The Lindsay Literary Scholarship is sponsored by the Lindsay Literary Agency, which represents children's authors.

The scholarship will be awarded to a YA or middle-grade writer from any under-represented background, including LGBTQIA, BAME, gender diversity, people with disabilities and ethnic, cultural and religious minorities. Applicants may be unpublished or self published, and must be unagented.

The scholarship covers three days at the Festival, access to all workshops and talks, four one-to-one appointments with industry experts, all meals, accommodation and a grant up to £100 towards travel to Winchester.

To apply, send a statement (up to 400 words), a sample of a work in progress (up to 2,000 words) and a synopsis (up to 400 words).

The closing date is 13 April.

The University of Winchester 2018 Writers' Festival will take place between 15 and 17 June.
