The competition is for a debut psychological thriller by an unpublished writer
The winning writer will receive a publication deal with Quercus with a £5,000 advance, and literary representation by David Higham Associates.
Shortlisted entrants will be offered a writen report on their submission.
Stefanie Bierwerth, publisher at Quercus, said: ‘We’re looking for a new writer with an original voice and a fast-paced, commercial story. A truly gripping psychological thriller must be immersive, relatable and, most importantly, pack a killer twist.’
To enter, send the first 5,000 words of a an unpublished crime or thriller novel between 75,000 and 130,000 words, a 1,000-word synopsis and an entry form, which may be found in the latest issue of Psychologies magazine.
Entry is free. The closing date is 6 October.
