The annual competition is for first-time authors with the potential to become bestsellers
The winner will receive a £30,000 publishing contract with Bonnier Zaffre and advice from literary agency Furniss Lawton. Richard & Judy Search for a Bestseller 2018 is supported by WHSmith.
'Judy and I are so excited to host the “search for a bestseller” competition, it gives us a chance to keep doing what we both love - reading and discovering a fantastic title for our devoted Book Club audience,' said Richard Madely. 'We can’t wait to read the submissions!'
Submissions may be novels in most popular fiction genres, ie crime, historical, romance and women's fiction. Sci-fi, fantasy, children's and YA fiction are not eligible for this competition.
To enter, send 10,000 words of original adult fiction and a synopsis of the full novel plus a short author biography.
Shortlisted writers will be contacted by 28 June, and will need to have completed their novel by 28 December.
Writers entering the competition should not have had any other novel published in any format, and should not be represented by a lterary agent. Self published writers may enter with a title that has not previously been self published.
Entry is free. One entry per author will be accepted.
The closing date is 14 June.
