'We're delighted to welcome Writing Magazine on a special tour of The London Library - the world's largest independent lending library, said head of communications Julian Lloyd. 'Steeped in over 175 years of history and housing a fascinating collection of over 1 million books, The London Library has been at the heart of literary life ever since it was founded in 1841.'

The tour is open to anyone who subscribes to Writing Magazine, but there are only 20 places available, so reservation is essential. It takes place on 28 June at 6pm and lasts about an hour. Visitors will get the chance to find out about the history of the Library, explore the remarkable bookstacks and discover some of the extraordinary books found on its seventeen miles of shelves.
