Win £2,500 and the chance to be published by Dialogue Books in the new prize for BAME writers from Hachette's Changing the Story initiative

The new prize is in honour of Nielsen Book's much-loved marketing and communications director Mo Siewcharran, who died in 2017. It is intended to give writers from under-represented backgrounds the opportunity to be published by Hachette.

The first prize is £2,500 and the opportunity of a publishing deal with Hachette imprint Dialogue Books. The second prize is £1,500 and a hamper of books, and the third prize is £750 and a hamper of books.

The prize is for original, compelling, relatable novels in any genre of adult fiction. Submitting writers should be unpublished UK novelists from a BAME background who not have a book deal with a UK publisher.

To enter, send a 700-word synopsis of the novel, a list of the book's characters and no more than 8,000 words (the first three chapters or first 50 pages) of the novel.

The closing date is 29 July.
