The BBC will be commissioning eight writers to write an original series or serial script
The commissioned scripts will be for BBC One, BBC Two or BBC Three Online.
To apply, writers must have at least one production credit (TV drama, at least 30 minutes) but must not be in development with BBC TV drama.
The scheme, which is aimed at writers with striking and unusual stories to tell, will last for a year. 20 writers will be shortlisted and will discuss their pitches with the BBC Writersroom and BBC drama executives. The selected writers will be paid a script fee and expenses.
To apply, send a CV highlighting production credits, an original drama script (min 30 minutes) and a one-page outline for a potential series or serial idea.
The closing date to apply for the BBC TV Drama Writers' Programme 2017 is 3 October.
