Coralie Bickford-Smith's beautiful children's book was shortlisted alongside our next WM cover star, Matt Haig
'This year a book has won our Book of the Year accolade through the impassioned advocacy of our outstanding children’s booksellers,' said James Daunt, Waterstones managing director.
'The Fox and the Star is a book of great physical beauty and timeless quality, one that will surely join that very special group of classic tales that appeal equally to children and adults.'
Congratulations to Coralie on winning with such an enchanting book.
Matt Haig was shortlisted for his inspirational memoir about surviving depression, Reasons to Stay Alive. You can read Matt's account of its creation in the January issue of Writing Magazine, in the shops on Thursday.
