The first 3D ebook is a Christmas story for children

A Dream of Christmas, the tale of a child who dreams of visiting Santa's grotto, includes a six-and-a-half-minute 3D film to complement the story.

It has been released by digital publishers Andrews UK. 'With our new 3D eBook we hope to show the world what can be done with rich media content, and also aim to delight children all over the globe with this wonderful book and video,' said Andrews CEO Paul Andrews.

A Dream of Christmas is available from Apple's iBookstore at http://itunes.apple.com/book/AUK/id478328460. The 3D version is playable on all iPads, iPhone 4 (or above) and iPod touch. To view the film in 3D, you will need 3DTV which supports side-by-side encoded video, a digital AV adapter cable and an HDMI cable. Perhaps, if you ask Santa very nicely, the gadgets necessary to see the 3D film will arrive on Christmas morning.
