WIll Cohu's text-speak story Two Bad Thumbs goes up against a tale by 94-year old Diana Athill in the £30,000 Sunday Times EFG Private Bank Short Story Award 2012
The £30,000 first prize is the largest cash award to be offered for a single short story. Five shortlisted writers will each get £1,000. The shortlist will be revealed on 4 March, and the winner will be annouced on 30 March.
Will Cohu has been longlisted in the last three consecutive years, and has made the shortlist in the last two.
