What's the current situation about British sit-coms? According to industry insiders, it's harder than ever to pitch a new sitcom – but why is this, and can the genre be revived? In Situation Critical: Who Will Save the Sitcom, Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, the creators of hit shows including Birds of a Feather, Goodnight Sweetheart and The New Statesman will be talking to writer James Cary about their own sitcom success, how to create a successful show, and the way forward for the sitcom genre.

The event, at the Museum of Comedy in London on 22 May, is being held by The Writers' Guild of Great Britain. Further guests will be announced.
