Win £2,000 for a short story up to 6,000 words

The Galley Beggar Press Short Story Prize is now in its fifth year. The winner recieves £2,000 and shortlisted writers are each awarded £150. Longlisted writers get £50 in book vouchers and a four-book subscription to Galley Beggar Press.

The competition is for original, unpublished short stories up to 6,000 words by any writer, published or unpublished, from anywhere in the world.

The entry fee is £10 per story.

The closing date is 30 September.

Galley Beggar Press publishes adult literary fiction and narative non-fiction. Galley Beggar Press author Lucy Ellman is longlisted for the 2019 Booker Prize for Ducks, Newburyport.
