The Society of Civil and Public Service Writers has an open-to-all competition for children's stories
The competition is for stories up to 2,000 words. There is a first prize of £75, and £40 for the runner-up.
All entries to the SCPSW Short Stories for Children Competition should be original and unpublished. Each entry should be typed on single sides of A4, and include a title wordcount, the author's pen name, the name of the competition and a separate sheet detailing the writer's pen name, real name, story title and address.
There is a fee of £5 for non-members, and £3 for members.
The closing date is 31 October.
